I'm sure you have by now seen the forum post by Development team manager Mike Ringer with a very detailed and enthusiastic match report, replicated here on the front page by a BTFC official.
I did not attend the first team game at the weekend so I am not in a position to comment on what went wrong etc. I am genuinely not looking to gloss over the weekends result, I'm sure somebody who did see the game could offer a report for better or worse. I would just like to add my congratulations to Mike and his players for a very good result at the weekend, when you consider that in the reverse fixture against Grendon Matt Bines, Pat Diamond, Nick Bines, Jakub Kasprzyk, James Wardell, Chris Robson and Kyle Stimpson all played and suffered a 0-3 defeat it shows how well the young fellas did on Saturday.
Mike has been trying to keep records and stats on the following website, it is well worth a look for us Robins fans and I certainly think you should take note of some of the names as I'm sure they will have a bright future for this club.

BUCKINGHAM TOWN FC DEVELOPMENT SQUAD V GRENDON RANGERS FC
Final Score 3-3
As the week progressed towards this game, I was looking down the squad list with a sinking heart, as more and more of our starting 11 were being pulled out either via injury or given the chance to shine with the first team,
WHY OH WHY I ask myself now, starting 11 with an ave age of 17, were fired up pointed in the direction of the pitch and released, and did they play, YES they did,
What did we have to lose, Grendon are a good side, well organised and well drilled, beating the development squad early in the season 3-0 which at the time was made up with a majority of the first team players,
Anyway that was then this is now, we have the ethos within the squad to stand and play as one, to develop with each min that passes, to never let a ball die and ensure that we play one way “forward”, we may have our setbacks but this game as like the last, you pick yourself up dust down the mud and start again and this is exactly what happened,
Team, ZAC (GK), SAM BE (RB), HAYES (CB), OLLIE (CB), JOE (LB), COREY (RM), JIMMY (CM), JEFF (CM), JAMIE (CM), JARED (LM), JOSH (STR), Subs , JAKE, DANNY, SCOTT,
Right from the first whistle the guys took the game to Grendon; they ensured that we passed the ball with quick precise movement,
With HAYES stepping into at centre back for the first time to partner the returning OLLIE, we looked to put JIMMY in as holding midfield for cover, a role normally taken up by LIAM or SCOTT, and what a game JIMMY had, a young 16yr old bossing the midfield, breaking down the Grendon play, allowing Both JAMIE and JEFF to push forward on the break to assist the ever present JOSH holding the ball up awaiting their support, Add in both wings of COREY and JARED, giving the distribution into the middle and ensuring they battled back to assist both SAM BE and JOE,
The Break came when Joe was able to push forward from LB, Skipping through and slotting the ball home, the game was back and too, with JOSH and the supporting Midfield chasing down every loose ball, then JOSH was rewarded with a delightful through ball which he was first too, the goalie coming out and a quick thinking JOSH chipped the keeper, ball nestling into the back of the net. With Grendon taking a chance with a dropped catch by ZAC his one and only mistake, a keeper that is destine for greater things, the half finished 2-1,
Second Half, after hearing the noise coming from Grendons changing room, the guys were fired up again and sent into battle, Grendon pushed back at us, coming level after a set piece saw one of their player’s loose at the back to slot home their equalizer, 2-2. At no point did our heads drop, the determination to keep going was so obvious throughout the team, and their attitude showed through, and even as they tired, JAMIE kept chasing down any loose ball to the fact that he got on the end of Grendon clearance and ran through Goalie to beat, BANG, back of the net, the discussions started on the side-lines led by Mr CHAIRMAN to remember JAMIES last Goal, we worked out it must be at least 18 months ago.
A last push by Grendon saw them come level again, this was not the end, with mins left we went for it, as I said earlier what did we had to lose, JAKE came on earlier for JEFF and was pushed further up the field, DANNY replaced a tired COREY, and the call went out for them all including JARED from the left to take their chances and risk the shots, and within the dying seconds this nearly paid off, with a shot superbly saved by their keeper from JARED, now that would have been the goal of the season so far.
The whistle goes a well-earned draw,
Mentions:
ZAC: World class saves,
SAM BE: Pure power,
HAYES: OUTSTANDING (STAR PLAYER)
OLLIE: Mr reliable,
JOE: Improves every game,
COREY: Total Battler,
JIMMY: What a Find,
JAMIE: was on it BIG TIME,
JEFF: Feet of FANCY,
JARED: Half pint Rocket
JOSH: Ten times the Player he was before Xmas,
JAKE: Coming back slowly after injury, Futures Bright
DANNY: Will be something very good,

The Shopmates' five match unbeaten run wrecked by the Robins at Kiln Park
Just to add to Dans report.
This is the slimmest picture we have on record of Robbo..
Wade, Cross, Phillips, Jakub, Diamond, Lee, Sands, Bines, Shepherd, Robson, McCormick
Subs: Not used: Hull, Stimpson, Bannister, Barker.
We gave a first team Debut to 17 year old keeper Zac Wade due to our goal keeping problems, and for those that came to watch the game they would have seen a fantastic game of football.
It was end to end from both teams, and both teams played some attractive football and made a real game of it.
The players did not let themselves down, and ALL played their part in the victory (although at times our concentration let us down )
MOM - Chris Robson showed a determination that was rewarded by a bace, and his attitude towards training and getting himself fitter has been noticed.
YES we get criticized when things don't go right, but lets all be honest, this team has given you some great games for viewing this season and some cracking goals.
Well done lads.

Game of Two Halves
On a decent, flat surface at Raunds BTFC started nervously and found themselves a goal down after 5 minutes. Nick Bines restored parity, calmly slotting in low with his favoured left foot after a bit of a scramble in Raunds 18 yard box 5 minutes later. BTFC shot themselves in the foot soon after, conceding a penalty which was duly slotted away by the hosts for 2-1, it stayed this way until half time and on reflection the hosts shaded the first period. Raunds were very hospitable and I believe our hard working secretary Darren did enjoy his halftime tea and cherry bakewell.
It appeared to be a different Robins side in the second half (no subs though!) and it was not long before a reinvigorated Chris Robson fired a wonder goal from 30 yards with a dipping half volley on his return from injury which dipped perfectly over the keeper into the net for 2-2. Once again BTFC made it hard for themselves conceding almost immediately to go 2-3 down but it was a much stronger showing and it wasn't long before we levelled at 3-3, a typically good Joel McCormick finish after great work from goalscorer turned provider Chris Robson.
With the match in the balance BTFC were awarded a free kick, roughly in line with the quadrant of the 18 yard box, half way between that and the touchline.... Chris Robson stepped up and hit the perfect free kick, pace, curl and power- if anyone got a touch it would have gone in but it was so well placed that with the confusion of onrushing players everybody missed it and it nestled wonderfully in at the far post, 4-3 Buckingham Town FC.
BTFC defended properly for the last 10/15 minutes and recorded a valuable 3 points, that is the best I've seen Robbo play and I believe it is largely down to committing himself to the gym recently, a good example of what can be achieved with the right dedication. Well done mate.
A special mention for young Zac Wade as well, a young development side goalkeeper forced into action for the senior side tonight, he did himself proud and I'm glad his debut ended in victory for the Robins.

Todays game
I arrived at Wicken today just in time for the 2nd half to kick off. BTFC Devs were 0-1 down to reigning champions Brackley Sports who are player/managed by former Robin Andy Prescott. I won't go into too much detail but anyone there will concur that the final scoreline massively flatters the opposition. There are a number of very young, very good players around the development squad and we saw a few of them today.

Development Team
I see the Development Team take centre stage tomorrow with no first team game. The squad and its concept is still very much in its infancy but debate rages on within the club regarding the viability of a section that is not self sufficient, for at least as long as we remain homeless. I am a football man first, businessman second but I understand the difficulties we face. Putting aside finance for a moment I am pleased that we have persevered with the project and I strongly believe the club will benefit from this pioneering season in the years to come. I hope Robins fans commit to the game at St John's Lane, Wicken tomorrow after the snow has put paid to recent fixtures, it's about supporting your club more than anything and I know you are great at that!
I listened with interest recently to Andre Villas Boas's thoughts on feeder teams in the lower divisons of English football. I am not a massive fan of his but it struck me that he feels Chelsea would benefit from it's young academy players getting real experience in the more robust but competitive lower divisions as a complete unit, rather than individuals being on loan here there and everywhere. Well we are clearly not in Chelsea's league but we do have our development side playing in a direct feeder league and though its currently not the best standard I feel it is more beneficial than a non competitive reserve league. Whether you like or dislike AVB and his opinions I think it's good that we have something at our club which one of Europe's premier clubs would like.
