A huge point for us against a Spencer
side that have only lost one game at home.
The game was full of end to end
action, we had some cracking chances to win it. Stimmo had a backwards header just
loop over the bar and Pat Diamond went on a superb run and get a shot away.
Spencer had their chances in a great game. It was like a boxing match with no
defence with either team having waves of attacks. Dom Marsala once again showed
his class with a great lob to score from Ben Shepherd’s through ball. Everyone
was fantastic and gave a significant contribution to the result.
Once again it was another fantastic
show of our character as Spencer started very brightly got a deserved lead and
look completely on top but these lads have got a resilient streak
now. We battled back, began to understand their shape, and forced our way back
into a contest that looked like it could have been a tough night. That’s
something I’m not sure we would have done four to six weeks ago, its another
great stride in our togetherness.
The weekend game at Burton Park
Wanderers is possibly one of the biggest in the club’s history in recent years
and will highlight how, as a group of people both on and off the pitch, the
club has survived another season. This is down to a passionate committee and a
new manager who has taught his side to battle, an ethos very much in line with
the club’s spirit the past few years.
We have Burton Park Wanderers on Saturday in our “Big One”. We cant wait for it and although its for the wrong reasons its exciting to be involved in a game that has so much meaning at this stage of the season. In truth I don’t think any of us want the season to end, normally players are flagging and ready for a much needed break but we are chomping at the bit and Saturday cannot come soon enough
