Grendon Res 0-4 BTFC Development

It was a good start for Larry and the Development Squad in their quest for promotion tonight as they comfortably brushed Grendon aside in their own backyard.

Dan Dellvalle got the scoring under way in the first half and Jamie Dellvalle added a second before half time to give us a nice cushion going into the break.

Larry might have positional discipline issues with his players as two centre backs scored from open play in the second half, first Bobby Cooney broke into the box and tapped in from six yards after great work from Ross Atkins down the right, Richie Wyatt wasn't going to be out done by his defensive colleague though as he won a 40-60 header 40 yards out before powering through unopposed  and slotting calmly into the bottom left hand corner, o-4 and the pressure is now on third centre back Josh Menday to get in on the act!

Starting lineup was J Cox, Atkins, Wyatt, Cooney, Menday, Cox, D Dellvalle, Mowatt, Dawson, Simpson, J Dellvalle

BTFC 0-3 Raunds Town FC

On a boiling hot opening day Buckingham Town stuttered and fell to a 0-3 defeat at our new home.  We were always on the back foot after conceding within the first couple of minutes of the new season.  In truth we had the greater of the possession in the first half but were unable to really trouble the visiting keeper whilst Raunds wasted a few glorious chances to extend their lead, 0-1 at halftime.

Raunds are a hard working team with more graft than guile but they did look dangerous every time they attacked.  Danny Simpson went close to equalising with about 20 minutes to go having been well found by Joel McCormick but his lob went just wide.  Almost immediately after it could have been 1-1 it went to 0-2 as the visitors broke clear and headed a second, then the killer blow came soon after, another header from a long cross into the box, 0-3 and game over.

Good Day For Town

Steve Orchard and his team delivered the James Victory Cup tonight in what has been a good day for the Robins.

Goals from Chris Robson, Nick Bines and Joel McCormick saw off Banbury Utd 3-2 and skipper Ieuan Riley lifted the solid silver trophy much to the delight of the home fans.

Earlier in the day Larry Woodward's Development side punished Wolverton Town's Reserves 8-1 with hot prospect Danny Simpson blasting 5 goals, thats 9 in two games after his 4 goal haul against a Rushden & Diamonds side.  Player Coach Lee Dawson grabbed 2 second half goals having sat out the first half  and there were plenty of other good performances from the likes of David Mowatt and Scott Whitmore.  It was also good to see the likes of Josh Menday and Louis Hayes back in the famous red shirts.
