Bourne Town 0 Buckingham Town 0

Bourne Town 0 Buckingham Town 0

The Last game of the season and the 4th game in 8 days, provided a long trip to Bourne Town F.C
After the week the mid week games, it would be easy for players to say that they are injured and not available, but we managed to get 13 players for this game and some of those players were carrying injures.
I would like to say thanks to those players that wanted to play in the penultimate game of the season and although many had tired legs they gave another deserved performance.
The message was clear from myself, I wanted to go above Wootton and gain 42 points. The players were aware of this and for those who came to watch the game, would have seen a tired team again having many chances to win.
The wood work got in the way on a couple of occasions and the Bourne goal keeper made some fantastic saves, especially 1 minute from time when Daley Cross fired a 25 yrd screamer into the top corner only for the keeper to pull off a brilliant save.
So we didn't get the win, and the players and myself were disappointed but they gave the best they could and that's all I could ask of them.

The Season
Where can I start.... Lets say this season has been very challenging, not only with off the field problems, but keeping this team together and for the team to bond. I keep saying to myself, " most of theses players are in their early 20's " they have different personalities, and those personalities sometimes clash.
You have to work out, how to manage those situations and work with those players and talk to them as people.
I had players not turning up for games when they said they would be their, also players pulling out on the Saturday morning, sometimes 2/3 players on one day would pull out - YES this is not acceptable, and I know at times some of the excuses were a " load of old tosh " but I always give players a second chance and opportunity to make things right, some players need a genuine kick up the back side, but some players just need a chat about WHY and HOW they can change for the better.
Lets look at one player Ieuan Riley...( Sorry Ieuan ). For those who know Ieaun he is a good guy off the pitch, polite and easy to get on with, but at time he has let himself, the squad and me down with his actions. Myself and Ieaun have had a number of long conversations and chats about many things as I respect him as a person, he took a lot of those conversations on board and completely changed his attitude towards football and playing, and has been one of the outstanding players in the last 8 weeks.
We have a good bunch lads at the club and so much potential to be more successful as a squad, and over the season we have had some real laughs.
The last 8 weeks the team has played a number of games, with Saturday and midweek fixtures, this gave the opportunity to play "FOOTBALL" the fitness levels and sharpness on the pitch were far better than mid season, and I noticed a massive change in some players. maybe the players that didn't train mid season need to realise that it is so so important to make the effort not only for team moral but to keep their own game and fitness levels up and sharp.

The Good Times
We always forget the good times we have, and look at the negatives, but lets remember how these players helped the club financially with the small run in the FA Vase, and of course beating Ascot and the well drilled win against Winslow.
We managed to get to the semi final of the charity cup against Banbury and put on a classy display in both legs only to go out 5-3 on aggregate.
The Games when we have come from behind to win 4-3 with last minute winners, Sileby Rangers, Raunds away springs to mind, and last Thursday's come back of the season against Bugbrook was our greatest achievement.
All in all - A tough season, the players have learnt that things don't happen over night, we have to pull together to succeed and although at times its hard, we must try and stay as positive as possible and understand that this club and team is in a rebuild.

Thank you also to Jason our physio who has helped players and myself this season, Jason has give his own time to the club and our team, and worked on players injuries when needed.
Cheers mate.
And thank you to Pat,s mum for putting up with my Smutty mouth.

Feet up and Relax !!!!
Cheers Kit.

Robins Show Class

Players win games, teams win championships
Bugbrooke   3    Buckingham Town  4 (Phillips 2, McCormick, Stimpson)

Thursday, 26 April 2012

The come back of the season:

Bugbrooke's hopes of a second placed finish were dashed by Buckingham's second half fightback

" What a performance it was "

The team was slightly rotated as players have been asked to play alot of games in recent weeks and had previously played on Tuesday evening.

Things went well enough for the Badgers in the first half. They opened up a two goal lead through Brad Janes after 20 minutes and Chris Davies eight minutes later -Zac will hold his hands up in the BTFC goal and will learn from those slight errors of judgement he made but lets remember he is only 16..

Daryl Phillips, who was playing centre back was allowed to go up for a corner and replied for Buckingham ten minutes before the interval.

BTFC were on the back foot for most of the half and at times showed some inconsistency in their play, so big words were said at at half time and 3 substitutes were made.

This was a big gamble but the gamble paid off !!

Second Half:

The Second half didnt start the best and the Badgers remained on course for the win which would take them into the final game with a chance of edging Harborough out of second place when Mick Parkes restored their two goal margin after 55 minutes with a superb 20 yard strike that looped over Matt Bines in the BTFC goal.

Then the fight back happened, another corner for BTFC and Phillips reduced the arrears again after 62 minutes -( "Daryl a brace means 2 goals" )

at 3-2 Buckingham became stronger and Bugbrooke had no answer to the BTFC late salvo.

Joel McCormick was inspirational and levelled for the Robins after 82 minutes from a free kick, and then in the 89th minute Matt Bines made a fantastic save and BTFC broke quickly down the right with McCormick feeding a perfect pass to Kyle Stimpson who slotted home for a superb winner.
What a game! Well done lads, outstanding.

Buckingham Charity Cup semi final second leg.

Banbury United 2 - 2 BuckinghamTown (Bines, Wardell)
Banbury win 5 -3 Aggregate

With Banbury United leading 3-1 from the first leg, it was always going to be a test for Buckingham Town to overturn that deficit and reach the final of the Buckingham Charity Cup. However, they got off to the best of starts, with just 5 minutes on the clock, James Wardell found Nick Bines in the area with Bines firing home the opener.

Banbury though equalised just five minutes later through Dior Angus to make the score 1 -1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.
The Banbury keeper had an outstanding evening, and made a number of saves from McCormick, Shepherd and Bines.
Then Banbury got their second of the night, Buckingham gave away a sloppy free kick, and did not react to the crossed ball and Joe Eyre gave Banbury a 2-1 lead on the night
The Second half was ALL Buckingham, they pushed Banbury back with some quality attacking football, chance after chance came and went, and then a life line was offered, when James Wardell Scored eight minutes into the second half to make it 2 - 2
(Well done to Nick Bines for not touching the ball and letting it roll into the net.)

Buckingham had plenty more chances and dominated possession but failed to convert any those chances so the final score on the night was 2-2, with Banbury United winning 5-3 on aggregate.

Buckingham Town: Zac Wade, Daley Cross (Kyle Stimpson 87), Sam Barker, Daryl Phillips, Jakub Kasprzyk, Ieuan Riley, Ben Shepherd, Graham Sands, James Wardell, Joel McCormick, Nick Bines (Sol Kazongo 78). Subs (not used): Ross Baldwin, Paul Hull, Matt Bines

Thank you to Banbury United for letting us use their Facilities for the two legs, we enjoyed our time their and for those who saw both legs of the semi final, I believe Buckingham Town players made a game of it and played some fantastic football and at times dominated the opposition
Great Sausage and Chips after the game!
Zac polished off 3 helpings..

Another one of those days

Wootton Blue Cross  1    Buckingham Town  1

Saturday, 21 April 2012

Andy Arnold's last match at the Blue Cross helm saw his side share the spoils with the Robins.
Wootton took the lead through Billy Sells after just 90 seconds.
Thereafter they were forced to defend as the visitors bossed the game.
Pat Diamond squared the contest ten minutes into the second half.
The Robins had chance after chance, hitting the woodwork 4 times but could not find the winner.

The story of our season.

6 in 4 for Nick Bines

Nick Bines secured another brace in a fantastic month for his goal tally, Bines has now scored 6 goals in 4 games and could be on his way to leading scorer this season.
The Robins went to Whitworths F.C with just 1 substitute but put on another brilliant team display.
The game was lost 3-2 but I can not complain about the way the players performed, they showed a real togetherness and worked their way back into the game after being 2-0 down.
The team has impressed me over the last 4/5 weeks, we have competed well with some of the top teams and I have been happy with the players commitment on the pitch. The only down fall is that we have lost some of those games and that still leaves the team in the bottom half of the league.

I would like the thank our loyal fans that came to the game on saturday and stood in the stands encouraging the team and clapping, that was really good to see and helped the players motivation. (sorry to Pats mum again for my foul mouth)

The league: The league does not lie and we deserve to be in that position, ALL in ALL, this has been a very difficult season, dedication and motivation from players and management has been hard to work round, but my job was to stabilise the best I could and have worked very hard on my own to do this.

Last-gasp defeat for the Robins

Buckingham Town 2 Harborough Town 3
Buckingham Town suffered late disappointment for the second time in three days as they went down 2-3 to Harborough Town at the Winslow Centre. Harborough went two goals ahead before Kyle Stimpson reduced the deficit after good work from Pat Diamond. Nick Bines appeared to earn the Robins a well earned point when he levelled in the 90th minute, he saw the Harborough goal keeper way off his line and struck a 35 yard shot that looped over everyones head and into the back of the net, a superb piece of vision from a player on top of his game. but visitors still had time to score an injury-time winner and grab all three points with the Robins players holding their heads in their hands in shock.

Robins suffer injury time blow!

Buckingham Town 2 - 2 Raunds Town (Wardell, Bines)
Stoppage time penalty gave the Shopmates only a second point in eight games. Buckingham started the game very well, and created many good chances, Wardell with the majority of those chances and it was on 12 minutes that Wardell scored the opener firing home with his right foot. Buckingham's opener was matched by a Dave Townsend equaliser for Raunds three minutes later with a fantastic strike from 20 yards out. The Robins went back in front through Nick Bines seven minutes before the break. The second half was more open and both teams had a number of half chances, but in the last minute of the game, a tired tackle in the box from MOM Graham Sands gave Raunds penalty and Karl King kept a cool head to score.

Buckingham Charity Cup semi-final

Buckingham Town 1 Banbury United 3
(Cory Lee)
In the first leg of the Buckingham Charity Cup semi-final, played at the Spencer Stadium due to the lack of floodlights at Buckingham Town’s current ground, Banbury United gained a two goal advantage to take into the second leg in three weeks time.
As the game settled down, Both teams began to create chances and it was Banbury who had the better of the two teams.
Buckingham always looked dangerous though and there were then good opportunities for Sol Kazongo and Ben Shepherd but they both put shots wide when they probably should have done better. On 30 minutes a free kick from the right went to Dior Angus at the far post but he shot straight at Zac Wade in the Buckingham goal.

It was however to be Buckingham who would take the lead when, seven minutes before the interval, a superb counter attack down the left, found Cory Lee in plenty of space just inside the Banbury penalty area and he struck the ball past an exposed Jack Harding. The half finished with a long range effort from Harrison Foster being parried away by Wade and then a minute later Jack Harding did well to save from Joel McCormick.

Second half
Two minutes into the second half, a header from Josh Northam was well saved by Wade but the United player was not to be denied just six minutes later when a cross from the left fell to him about 12 yards out and he struck the ball home. On the hour mark, moments after a Northam shot from 20 yards had struck the post, Banbury were given a dubious penalty as the ref felt Joe Eyre was fouled in the penalty area. Dior Angus stepped up to strike the ball high to the goalkeeper’s left to put Banbury 2-1 in front.

Buckingham responded well to going behind and put Banbury under considerable pressure but were unable to find an equaliser. Then in the last minute of the game, with Buckingham pushing forward, they were caught on the break with a good move down the right which ended with a cross being put into the net by Ben Polk from close range to make the final score 3-1 to Banbury.

The second leg will be played at the Spencer Stadium on Tuesday 24th April. The aggregate winners will play Cogenhoe United in the final at Buckingham Athletic’s ground on Monday 7th May

Bines Brace Gives Robins win.

Eynesbury Rovers 1 Buckingham Town 2 (Bines)

Buckingham got a much needed win on saturday as they defeted Eynesbury Rovers at Hall Road.
Both sides had chances in an end to end opening.
Eynesbury took a first half lead through Tom Coles who netted after 21 minutes, slotting home from a Ryan Inskip pass.
Rovers were thwarted by young Robins goalkeeper Zac Wade on a number of occasions before the interval.
The second half team talk and a few fire works saw a more determined Buckingham as they took the game to Eynesbury.
Nick Bines equalised seven minutes after the restart, beating Carl Mackney with a low shot, and after further home openings went begging he followed up with an 84th minute winner for the Robins, firing home a free kick from a wide position on the right.

Buckingham: Zac Wade, Daley Cross, Sam Barker, Pat Diamond, Jakub Kasprzyk, Graham Sands, Ben Shepherd, Corey Lee, Chris Robson, Joel McCormick, Nick Bines.
