Robins lose to leaders
Mon 26th Dec: Chroma Sports & Trophies League, Division 1 leaders Bugbrooke ran out 3-1 winners against Buckingham Town on a windy afternoon at the Winslow Centre. Kit Bamber's side were missing James Wardell, Jakub Kasprzyk and Ben Shepherd for their Boxing Day encounter. It was the visitors who started brightly and kept the Robins in their own half for the opening exchanges. The league leaders took the lead after 21 minutes when a slip by the home defence saw Bugbrooke capitalise on the mistake with Allen scoring. Rob Bannister had a shot saved while the Robins defence went into the break having battled well for the first period. Bamber opted to replace Daryl Phillips with Ieuan Riley coming into the centre of midfield, Chris Robson moving to the right of the midfield four and Paul Hull moving to the left back berth. The Robins got off to the worst possible second half start as Bugbrooke doubled their advantage in the 47th minute when Bradshaw netted for the visitors. The home side battled back into the game and it was Bannister who was on hand to tap in from seven yards after a first time left wing cross from Kyle Stimpson. Hull had a fantastic 60-yard run from left back through the middle before his shot was blocked 18 yards out. With the Robins pushing for an equaliser it was the Bugbrooke substitute Worley who latched onto a ball and smashed an empathic strike past Mike Bell in the Robins goal to give his side all three points.
Robins: Bell, Cross, Phillips (Riley), Diamond, Gale, Robson, N.Bines, Lee (Sands), Bannister, Stimpson, Hull
